I am so honored to do another season of this incredible show, "Of Ebony Embers," written by Akin Babatunde for the Core Ensemble Co. In this piece, I play 4 significant figures of the Harlem Renaissance era: Langston Hughes, Countee Cullen, Claude McKay, and visual artist Aaron Douglass. I am also joined onsatge by 3 wonderful musicians who play jazz music of that era or inspired by that era. I've been touring this piece through colleges and universities across the country for about a month now. We've had the pleasure of going to New Orleans, Key West, California, and Texas. I am so pleased that is has been received very well. We have received a standing ovation in nearly every single city that we've visited.
I had the pleasure of being interviewed at one of the tour stops by the Victoria Advocate. To read that article, just click the link here.
