I am very excited to be apart of the staged reading of The Riverboat Exploit by Fredi Walker-Browne, best known to audiences as the original Joanne in RENT! This is a play written and directed by Walker-Browne and it is being presented at the National Black Theatre in Harlem on Monday, July 13th at 7:30pm as part of the their "Keep Soul Alive" Reading Series.
I will be playing the role of Lee Ivy in this racially charged piece that takes place in the early 1900s after black slaves have been free. It is sure to be a very invigorating night of theater that explores the racial tension that took place then and what still occurs today. The reading is free and open to the public!
